My Creative Journey Begins...

This is my very first post, on my very first blog, so bear with me. I made the decision to start this blog so that I could begin to connect with art communities and explore my creativity again. I have been an artist as long as I can remember, since I got that first box of Crayolas in the first grade. By the time I was ten, I had my own portfolio (an old photographer's portfolio case my dad gave me from when he was a student) full of pastel and pencil drawings. My art supplies went everywhere with me, and I would draw wherever I went. I knew I wanted to be an artist at that young age, and every decision I made from that moment on pointed me towards that goal.

I went on to study art at UW- Stout, then transferred to NHCC to a two year program in Commercial   Art. I explored art using all kinds of mediums; textiles, acrylic paints, paper, printmaking, and studied old school commercial art (that's right, for you young people, no computers). At that time in my life, my creativity and need to express myself artistically was huge and wide open, I compare it to a huge open field.

Of course, we all have to make a living, so I got a job, life became 9-5, 5 days a week, and slowly started sucking away my creativity. I now started picturing my creativity as a tunnel, wide enough to fit a train through it at the beginning, but now, many years later, so small that even I can't fit through any more. I decided it was time for a change.

I had received a book as a gift from my dad, "The Artist Way" many years ago, and it sat on my shelf for years, untouched. So last year I pulled the book off the shelf and began my journey.

I will post more soon, and thanks for visiting.
